Your guide to choosing the day that’s right for you.
Micro weddings are set to be a MAJOR trend in 2025 but don’t let what everyone seems to be doing around you influence what you want for your wedding, cos let’s be honest, the peer pressure is REAL. So what actually is the difference between a big, small and a micro wedding? Let’s get into it.
WHAT IS A BIG WEDDING?
On the whole, a big wedding is classed as a room of 150 people plus, which sounds like one heck of a party to us! A larger wedding may limit you slightly on the location, so make sure you do your research and ensure your dream location matches how many people you’d love there. If you’re set on a wedding of this size a hotel or outdoor venue (such as a marquee), will be your best bet.
WHAT IS A SMALL WEDDING?
The rule of thumb for a small wedding is no more than about 65 of your nearest and dearest. Now our top tip for a wedding of this size is be VERY careful on your choice of venue! You don’t want your guests squished into somewhere too small with no room for dancing, and equally you don’t want them in somewhere too big as that’ll impact the vibe of the day. Ensure you let your venue know what the lucky number of your guest list is that everyone is on the same page about the size of wedding at stake!
WHAT IS A MICRO WEDDING?
Tiny and intimate, micro doesnt mean any less impact on the big day! A micro wedding is typically classed as no more than 25 guests. The plus to this kinda day is that you get the opportunity to spend quality time with your family and friends. And less people means you could potentially shove more of the budget into a luxe sit-down meal or go all out on the decor. However you spin it, a micro wedding is 100% the most budget-friendly and personal of the options available to you!
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH IS RIGHT FOR US?
Bringing budget into things tends to feel a lil bit uncouth doesn’t it? But when it comes to weddings it really is a valid and necessary thing to consider! Because let’s be real - budget often dictates goin big or stayin humble. So our advice is to begin there, cos you may wanna go big on the honeymoon and keep the shindig small, or you may have other priorities like saving up for a family or a new home and they might come first for you!
The key to remember is: do what feels right for the both of you AND your wallet. Just the two of you, or a room of 150 + - the wedding day is yours to do however you like, don’t let anyone else's desires eclipse yours!
